A Study on Attitudes of Clinical Nurse´s towards Death and Dying Patients

Abstract

|
A repetition checks a death and attitude about a dying patients with the object with a clinical nurse´s having a contact to be the closest to a patients, and this study provides a future death and nursing to have let m quality about a dying patients, and it is provide to attempt with basic database of nursing education. A concrete purpose of this study checks demography a few characteristic of a clinical nurse´s and is going to check a death of a clinical nurse´s and attitude about a dying patients. The study object is with a nurse to have become than one years old, university hospital & general hospital of over sick-bed 300 in current GyeongSangBuk-Do In K city, a P city, a D City. There are database collected on 238 parts of total materials from Dec, 1 to Dee 20, 2003. A study tool is a dying and attitude about hospice questionnaire at Kim Hu Ja(1989), Jeong Hui Ja (1995) developed was ethical value tools m the study that tried to integrate and played reconstruction and used. The analysis was done used frequency and a percentage, mean, standard deviation as SPSS/PC WIN 11.0. A death and attitude about a dying patients with a clinical nurse´s got the following conclusion through this study General attitude about a death is built by agreeing with negative attitude about a death with an mean of 2 57 points. Attitude about emotional and desire of a dying patients shows attitude to agree with an mean of 2 14 points and goes with a patient and family relationship the dying of displayed positive attitude on the other hand to be negative on a dying of the person oneself. In attitude about incurability disease patient recognition of a clinical nurse´s, incurability disease notification problem shows attitude to agree scope gives notice of an incurability disease with an mean of 243 points, looked in an opinion problem scope about life extension of an incurability disease patients looks with attitude to oppose with an mean of 3.09 points and to support euthanasia. The attitude about a dying patients of a clinical nurse´s showed positive attitude to agree with an mean of 2 59 points. Attitude about a human life displays attitude to oppose an mean of 3.09 points, and human dignity and life esteem despise showed trend to work.
The recommendation of the study is results of ideal with a base as follows:
(1) Clinical nurse´s are necessary education for a change of positive attitude a death and about a dying patients.
(2) Education about nursing of a death and a dying patients is necessary enhancement of a nursing curriculum so that systematic and continuous education works.
(3) The recommendation is of the repeat study, compunction repetition object and expansion of the work department.
